About
About halfway up the roughly two-hour trail to the summit of Mount Inari, behind Fushimi Inari Shrine's thousands of vermilion torii gates, the path opens onto Yotsutsuji, a four-way junction with teahouses and benches. It's the first real viewpoint of the climb, looking out over southern Kyoto and the Fushimi district below through a gap in the trees. Most day-trip visitors turn back here, so the crowds thin noticeably on the trail's upper loop.
